Overview

Zhenbao Hotpot Makati 珍宝重庆火锅 Makati店(原小当家) offers a compelling hotpot experience in the heart of Makati City, located along Urban Ave near Sen. Gil J. Puyat Avenue. This spot caters well to hotpot enthusiasts craving authentic Chongqing-style flavors without the hassle of traveling to busier branches in places like BGC. The restaurant’s spacious layout across the second and third floors provides ample room, making it a comfortable and inviting venue for groups and families seeking a shared dining experience.

The highlight is undoubtedly their selection of proteins, particularly the beef, which stands out for its tenderness and flavor. The shrimp is also a standout, with the option to have it peeled—a thoughtful touch that enhances convenience and enjoyment. Complemented by their steamed rice, these core elements blend traditionally rich flavors with a modern dining atmosphere. The broth strikes the right balance, flavorful without overpowering, inviting diners to savor each ingredient’s texture and taste.

Service at Zhenbao Makati is attentive and professional, often praised for going the extra mile to make guests feel welcome. The management team, led by Sir Christian, demonstrates genuine care toward customer satisfaction, which resonates through efficient and courteous staff. The restaurant also adds value through perks like unlimited soft drinks and beers, perfect for those looking to relax and enjoy their meal.

However, there are areas to refine. Some patrons have noted the seasoning of sauces edging toward overly salty, which slightly detracts from the overall harmony of flavors. A few have mentioned occasional lapses in service consistency and minor discomfort due to the indoor temperature setup. Parking is limited yet manageable, with nearby alternatives available for guests driving in.

Overall, Zhenbao Hotpot Makati stands as a solid choice for diners seeking genuine hotpot fare in a spacious, clean, and well-maintained urban setting. Its appeal is strongest among groups and families who prioritize authentic hotpot ingredients and a relaxed, accommodating environment. While not without its flaws, it successfully captures the essence of Chongqing hotpot and offers a satisfying dining destination in Metro Manila.

I'm pretty satisfied with my experience at Zhenbao Hotpot Makati! The meats are definitely a highlight, with the beef standing out, and the shrimp is a must-try, especially since you can request to have it peeled. The unlimited soft drinks and beers are a great perk. The soup is just right, not too overwhelming. However, the sauce ingredients could use a bit of tweaking as they lean towards being a tad too salty. On the plus side, the ambiance is great, the place is clean and well-maintained, and the service is top-notch. Overall, it's a solid choice for hotpot lovers looking for a good meal out.

The food is absolutely amazing! They made us feel welcomed and gave us an amazing experience. Thank you, Sir Christian (Manager) & Ms. Babylyn They know what they’re doing and what they’re talking about, and you can tell making the customers happy is their main priority. Servers are also great and always efficient, happy and polite. Can’t wait to return and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend to anyone looking for somewhere to eat in Zhenbao! Thank you, Sir Christian, for the San Mig treat. I wasn't expecting to receive such. Thank you for making our brother's birthday extra special.

They have parking for I think 6 cars available. There's also a parking lot nearby in the same street. If you're craving for Zhenbao and can't find the time to beat traffic going to BGC, this is the better option. The service here feels better because it's not as crowded. The portions also seem larger and unlike the branch in high street, they are more likely to have items in stock. The restaurant is in the second floor of building and they have surprisingly a lot of space on both the 2nd floor and 3rd floor. There isn't much to tell about the hotpot. It's good enough. Some of the seats tend to slide so be careful when sitting down

We weren’t given the “free bone marrow” included in the package. We assumed that supplies ran out, but the next table was given theirs. It’s upsetting. The atmosphere was so judgmental, quiet looks, and they were hesitant to serve: selective good service. I asked for one specific thing I still have to repeat it twice and thrice. You could get better hotpot elsewhere which would cost less. Maybe that’s why it was 50% off, because the service would be just as off. Thanks anyway, but would not recommend.

Unlimited hotpot . The food here is delicious, but the place was uncomfortably hot. I couldn't tell if the air conditioning was working, and it made the experience less enjoyable.

Food is good, lesser option than other hotpots. Sgro nag dala is ung balls nila, plus shrimp, and squid, the seafood is fresh plus you can request to peel the shrimp skin para less hustle, and the beef is good too. However may kulang sa taste ng sabaw nila. I dont know

I visited this place for the first time and had a fantastic experience from start to finish. If you’re a fan of hot pot or BBQ-style dining, this is definitely a spot worth trying. They offer a huge selection of ingredients—everything from various cuts of beef, pork, and chicken to a wide variety of seafood like shrimp, squid, mussels, and fish. The vegetable section was also impressive, with mushrooms, leafy greens, tofu, corn, and more, making it easy to build a hearty, balanced meal. One of the best things about this place is the attention to value and small touches. They offer free iced tea and fresh fruit, which is a nice bonus and really adds to the overall experience. I also appreciated that they had fried rice available—it’s a nice comfort food option alongside all the grilling and boiling. Everything was fresh, well-stocked, and kept clean. Since I went on a weekday in May, it wasn’t crowded at all, which made the whole experience super relaxed and enjoyable. The atmosphere was clean and welcoming, and the staff were polite and efficient when it came to clearing tables and refilling stations. Pro tip: Before you go, buy a voucher from Stardeal—it can save you some money and make the visit even more worthwhile. It’s a great way to enjoy everything they offer at a better price. dislikes: area is a bit dark, which seems to be boring, All in all, I was very satisfied with my visit and would definitely come back. It’s a great place whether you’re dining with friends, family, or just looking to treat yourself to a variety-packed meal.

We had a pretty good time at Zhen Bao Hotpot in Makati. Their soups, especially the original and beef ones, were tasty and hit the spot. We tried their dipping sauce recipe, but I personally preferred the satay sauce with less chili. They give you a recipe suggestion, which is cool. For our hotpot ingredients, we got USDA Beef, Lamb, Prawn, Prawn Dumplings, and Squid Tentacles. They were all decent quality, and we had a fun and filling afternoon eating. Zhen Bao Hotpot isn't the fanciest place, but it's a chill spot for a delicious and satisfying hotpot meal.
